The water used in heat exchange does not all equal in the world of industry. Close enough is not good enough when you are dealing with machinery that is of high value, when dealing with sensitive chemical reactions, or when dealing with the use of expensive coolants. You need absolute purity.
At Harrison Cooling Towers,we have the engineering and manufacturing of the Closed Circuit Cooling Tower which is a system favored by industries that can not afford even a speck of dust or a puff of mineral scaling in their internal systems. Whereas the standard open towers are good in general use, our closed-loop systems serve as a protection barrier and keep your process fluid in a clean and pressurized circuit.
What is a Closed Circuit Cooling Tower?
This is in contrast to an open cooling tower where the process water is allowed to be exposed to the air directly, a Closed Circuit Cooling Tower (also called an Indirect Cooling Tower) retains the process fluid within a closed heat exchanger coil.
Here is how the magic happens:
- Internal Circuit: Your process fluid (water, glycol or oil) remains within a high quality copper or stainless steel coil. It does not even come in contact with the external atmosphere.
- External Circuit: This Spray system sprays water over the surface of these coils.
- Evaporative Cooling: Withdrawing heat To the fluid contained in the coils, a little of the spray water is evaporated as air is drawn through the tower without ever coming into contact with it.
The Strategic Benefits of Operating "Closed Loop"
What is the rationale behind the design of the highest-tier facilities in Mumbai and Dubai? It is a simple reduction to three pillars, namely, Purity, Performance, and Protection.
1. Zero Contamination
The process fluid is supplied in a closed loop, so there are no chances of the airborne contaminants, bacteria, and debris entering your machinery. This is essential in the case of the induction furnace, data center and pharmaceutical laboratories where even small clogging can result in fatal collapse.
Eradication of Scaling and Fouling
With open systems, the minerals of the water (such as calcium and magnesium) accumulate in your costly machinery forming what we call scale. This is a form of insulation and it makes your cooling ineffective with time. It uses a Closed Circuit Cooling Tower so the internal loop will not be scaled and the equipment will operate at full capacity throughout its service life.
3. Water and Chemical Savings
This prevents the loss of water to the outside environment, referred to as blowdown, and also avoids the necessity of chemical consistency of the water in the process. All you need to do is to treat the secondary spray water which saves a lot of operational expenses.
Technical Specifications: Designed to the Extremes
Harrison Cooling Towers is a global leader and its systems work in the 45oC and above climate of the UAE and the high-humidity of coastal India. Our closed loop units are designed with:
-
Premium Coil Choices:
Select either high quality HDG (Hot Dip Galvanized) steel, Stainless Steel (304/316) or Copper coils based on the type of fluid. -
Heavy-Duty FRP Casing:
The tower body will never rust or corrode because of our own brand UV-stabilized Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic. -
Intelligent Control Systems:
Fan customers Intelligible VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) support of the optional control to vary the fan speed in line with the actual heat requirement to reduce energy usage by up to 30%. -
Low-Maintenance Spray Pumps:
This type of pump is used in situations where high flow and low head are required and also where the pumps need to be in operation continuously with minimum wear.
Application Performance is Non-Negotiable
- Induction Furnaces – Protect electrical components from mineral deposits.
- Data Centers – Maintain precise cooling for sensitive server infrastructure.
- Food & Beverage – Prevent cross-contamination in ingredient processing.
- Air Compressors – Prevent clogging in internal cooling jackets.
